El presente 2010 está declarado como Año Europeo contra la pobreza y la exclusión social. Uno de tantos, podemos llegar a pensar. Pero la realidad es la que es y malo debe ser que necesitemos iniciativas como ésta para recordar que hay personas en este mundo, en nuestro país, en nuestra ciudad, en nuestro barrio, en nuestro portal… que buscan un hueco entre nosotros. Un hueco digno y no en el que vivir, sino en el que subsistir. Con eso se conforman.
En esta época de crisis, en la que se han derrumbado muchos mitos económicos, nos estamos acostumbrando a leer y escuchar la palabra ‘derechos’. Los derechos que debemos tener todos y todas, pero que en ocasiones y por mucho que los busques, no aparecen. Y quizá ni yo ni tú nos podamos quejar sabedores de que esa frase de “que me quede como estoy” es más práctica que nunca. Lo que no es óbice para que abramos los ojos y agudicemos el oído en busca de soluciones o al menos reflexiones que ayuden a variar el rumbo de las cosas. Es el momento de no quedarnos callados en este mundo, en nuestro país, en nuestra ciudad, en nuestro barrio, en nuestro portal, en nuestro trabajo… En aportar para que la convivencia sea real. Una convivencia justa a ser posible y en la que todos y todas posean los mínimos derechos.
Porque la responsabilidad no es sólo de nuestros políticos. ¡Claro que tienen que favorecer la igualdad con políticas públicas! Pero la pregunta es ¿qué hacemos nosotros? Una aportación económica, comprar en tiendas de comercio justo, apagar el agua cuando nos frotamos el pelo o el cuerpo en la ducha, reciclar, desconectar el televisor o cualquier aparato electrónico cuando no lo utilizamos… Nuestros gobernantes, a la vez, tendrán que hacer su trabajo empezando, quizá, por escuchar. Algo que les cuesta demasiado y que en muy pocas ocasiones hacen.
Algunas de las personas que apuestan por otras políticas públicas van a estar presentes en septiembre en el Congreso Internacional de Derechos Humanos que organiza el Gobierno Vasco. Se hablará sobre los derechos económicos, sociales y culturales. Sobre el reto de ponerlos en práctica. En definitiva, de la necesidad de cambiar la sociedad que actualmente poseemos y que quizá no gobernamos. Preferimos que lo hagan otros por nosotros.
